Air temperatures in South Romania far above the long-term average

Elevated air temperatures persisted in the south and southeast of Romania this past week. They were 4-6°С above normal, even reaching +25..+27°С in the south.

Productive precipitation occurred in the western, northern and central regions of the country (25-35 mm over the week). This increased moisture supply in these parts of Romania. Severe and moderate soil drought is still seen in the northeast, south and southeast, being aggravated by high air temperatures.

Winter grains are at the stages of emergence and the first pair of true leaves. Winter rape is at the stage of leaf rosettes (3-6 leaves). Winter crops are in fair condition, though being weak and sparse in regions stricken by severe soil drought.
