In 2019, Russia to harvest 126 mln tonnes of grains — SovEcon

Experts of the analytical center SovEcon increased their estimations of the general grain harvest in Russia in 2019 from 121.4 mln tonnes to 126.1 mln tonnes, due to keeping of the favourable weather conditions at the end of winter.

Previously, SovEcon reported about the increase of the forecast of wheat production in the current year to 80 mln tonnes.

Also, SovEcon expected for the further increase of the forecast, due to possible expansion of the planted areas under spring crops in terms of the favourable price environment. The experts will update their forecasts after receiving of the figures on crops condition after the winter period, which are expected in late March - early April.

It was also noted that SovEcon estimated the general planted areas under grains in Russia in 2019 at the level of 46.7 mln ha (in 2018 — 46.5 mln ha), including wheat — 27.6 mln ha (27.3 mln ha).
