Romania. Winter crops are weak and sparse in regions stricken by severe soil drought

Elevated air temperatures persisted in Romania this past week. Their deviation from normal values was 6-9°С. The average air temperature varied within the range of +11..+18°С.

As before, the country received no productive precipitation, therefore the soil moisture content continues to decrease. Satisfactory supply of soil moisture is only available in small southwestern and central areas. Moderate and severe soil drought is observed across the rest of Romania’s farming land.

Romania has finished harvesting its corn. Plants of winter grain crops are now sprouting and forming the first pair of true leaves. Winter rape is at the stage of formation of leaf rosettes. Winter crops are in fair condition, being weak and sparse in regions stricken by severe soil drought, reports UkrAgroConsult.
