By 2024, the Central Federal District should provide nearly 15% of the general exports of Russian agricultural products, declared the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Patrushev on February 5.
The Central District is one of the major drivers of development of the agro-industrial complex of the country, therefore it is charged with the great tasks to build up the export potential. By 2024, the reporting District, excluding the supplies from Moscow, should export agricultural products at the sum of 6.6 bln USD, or nearly 15% of the general volumes in the whole Russia. In order to achieve the reporting goals, it is necessary to significantly increase the production of agricultural products for exports. In particular, the District needs to increase the harvest volumes of grains and oilseeds, as well as cattle and poultry, dairy products, etc., said the Minister.
According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, by 2024 the general harvest of grain crops in the Central Federal District will exceed 34 mln tonnes, as opposed to 28.5 mln tonnes in 2018. The harvest of oilseeds will reach 7.8 mln tonnes. Also, the Ministry plans to increase the production of cattle and poultry in regions of the Central District by more than 15% (to 6.2 mln tonnes), and milk — up 14.8% (to 6.6 mln tonnes).
