September’s corn exports from Ukraine hit a high this season

Ukraine exported 283.7 KMT of corn in September 2017/18, or 137.8% more than in the same month last year. This is also the largest September volume since MY 2012/13.

Almost 88.5% of September’s corn supplies from Ukraine went to the European Union. Other destinations for Ukrainian corn exports in September 2018/19 included Lebanon, Liberia, and Libya. It should be noted that the start of the season features the absence of corn shipments to traditional major markets such as Egypt and China.

As a reminder, Ukrainian corn exports in the 2017/18 season were down 17.7% year-over-year. The biggest importers this past season were the EU, China, and Egypt.
