Ukraine. 86% of winter grains are in good and fair condition

After February 10, the average daily air temperature in Ukraine turned out to be 2-80С above normal at -30С to +40С.

Precipitation of various intensities and amounts occurred almost all over the country during 1-3 days, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of February 10, the soil was frozen to a depth of 1-10 cm in most of the country. Its temperature was at 00С to -30С, i.e. far above critical for plants. In most parts of the southern, western, central and northern regions the soil has been thawed over the past week.

Winter cereal plants are dormant. This past week, they only resumed growth for a while locally in the south.

In general, winter grains condition is rated good and fair. At the same time, above-zero average daily air temperatures, daytime temperatures above the biological minimum, as well as thawed soil may prematurely trigger certain physiological processes in plants, in particular causing them to consume more sugars and thereby getting them exhausted ahead of the spring.

Grains have emerged in 98% of their planted acreage of 7600 Th ha, including and the other 14% being weak and sparse.
