Ukraine. Corn harvest is 90% complete

GRAINS. The harvest of late grains in Ukraine was 96% complete as of November 19, 2018 (95% as of November 12, 2018). Moreover, this is up 4% from November 20, 2017, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The corn harvest completion rate closed the week at 90% (86% a week ago). This work is now 12.8% ahead of last year, but somewhat slower than a week ago when it was 15.4% ahead of 2017.

Planting of winter crops is actually complete. Noteworthy is that farmers have seeded 120 Th ha to winter rye out of the projected 147 Th ha (some 81%).

 

 

OILSEEDS. According to the Ag Ministry of Ukraine, sunseed had been harvested from 6046 Th ha by November 19, i.e. from 99.8% of its projected area of 6058.2 Th ha. The harvest is 2.7% ahead of 2017. The crop amounted to 13757.9 KMT with an average sunseed yield of 2.28 MT/ha (up 13.4% from 2017). By the same date a year ago, farmers harvested 11819 KMT of sunseed from 5886 Th ha with an average yield of 2.01 MT/ha.

Soybeans had been harvested from 1687.3 Th ha by the reporting date (99% of their projected area of 1712 Th ha). Their harvest is now 10.5% behind last year. Farmers combined 4337.3 KMT of soybeans with an average yield of 2.57 MT/ha (+33.8% from 2017). A year ago, 3619 KMT was harvested from 1884 Th ha with an average yield of 1.92 MT/ha.

According to current reports, the planted area of winter rape is already as large as 1034.1 Th ha. This is 116% of the projected 888 Th ha and 20% more than a year ago (862 Th ha).
