Ukraine. Corn yield up 43% from last year

GRAINS. As of November 26, 2018, the harvest of late grains in Ukraine was 98% complete. Noteworthy is that the Ag Ministry lowered its forecast for their harvesting area from 14,840 Th ha to 14,835 Th ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The harvest of corn for grain was 94% complete as of the reporting date (90% a week ago). Its yield is 42.8% higher than last year.

The planting of winter crops was 98% complete.

OILCROPS. According to the Ag Ministry of Ukraine, sunseed had been harvested from 6047.9 Th ha by November 26, i.e. from 99.8% of its projected area of 6058.2 Th ha. The harvest is 2.2% ahead of 2017. The crop amounted to 13772.2 KMT with an average sunseed yield of 2.28 MT/ha (up 13.4% from 2017). By the same date a year ago, farmers harvested 11881 KMT of sunseed from 5918 Th ha with an average yield of 2.01 MT/ha.

Soybeans had been harvested from 1690.3 Th ha by the reporting date (99% of their projected area of 1712 Th ha). Their harvest is now 12.5% behind last year. Farmers combined 4345 KMT of soybeans with an average yield of 2.57 MT/ha (+33.2% from 2017). A year ago, 3722 KMT was harvested from 1931 Th ha with an average yield of 1.93 MT/ha.
