Ukraine. Less than 15% of corn still unharvested

GRAINS. The harvest of late grains in Ukraine was 95% complete as of November 12, 2018 against 92.3% a week earlier. This was also up 4.9% from November 13, 2017.

Corn has been harvested from 8.5% of its acreage over the week (9.3% over the previous week). As of the reporting date, the harvest was 15.4% ahead of last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Less than 2% of the projected area is still left to be seeded to winter grains. Their planting is 2.7% ahead of last year. At the same time, farmers sowed 1% more winter barley than projected and 7.9% more than last year. Winter rye planting is 18.3% behind last year.

 

 

OILCROPS. According to the Ag Ministry of Ukraine, sunseed had been harvested from 6033.2 Th ha by November 12, i.e. from 99.5% of its projected area of 6060.5 Th ha. The harvest is 3% ahead of 2017. The crop amounted to 13602.1 KMT with an average sunseed yield of 2.25 MT/ha (up 12.5% from 2017). By the same date a year ago, farmers harvested 11725 KMT of sunseed from 5860 Th ha with an average yield of 2.00 MT/ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Soybeans had been harvested from 1678.3 Th ha by the reporting date (98% of their projected area of 1712 Th ha). Their harvest is now 8.7% behind last year. Farmers combined 4312.9 KMT of soybeans with an average yield of 2.57 MT/ha (+33.9% from 2017). A year ago, 3520 KMT was harvested from 1838 Th ha with an average yield of 1.92 MT/ha.
