Until the end of the season, Russia to export nearly 10 mln tonnes of grains — Rusagrotrans

In the remaining months of 2018/19 MY (February-June), Russia will supply no more than 10 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, including nearly 8 mln tonnes of wheat, declared the Head of the analytical center at Rusagrotrans JSC, Igor Pavensky on February 14.

In the current season, Russia already exported the main volumes of grains — since the beginning of 2018/19 MY, the country shipped 31.87 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, including 26.9 mln tonnes of wheat. Therefore, the export potential for February-June is quite small, the expert added.

In particular, I.Pavensky forecasted that in February 2019 the exports of Russian grains will reach 2.4-2.6 mln tonnes, as opposed to 4.2 mln tonnes in the same month last year. In March 2019, the shipments will likely reduce to 2.1-2.3 mln tonnes.

At the same time, the analyst expected that if the prospects of the harvest-2019 keep at the favourable level, the prices of the domestic market will update, and the exports will somewhat liven up.

Also, the situation will depend on the dynamics of RUR/USD exchange trade and news from the global market about the prospects of the harvest, especially in the USA and the EU, I.Pavensky said.
