According to growth tests of plant samples, winter crops in Belarus have normal viability.
Nationwide, the majority of sampled plants of winter grains and winter rape either fully recovered, or their loss rates were within natural levels, reports UkrAgroConsult.
In the northeastern half of the country, soil temperature at the depth of winter grains’ tillering node fluctuates around 0°С due to persistent snow cover and insignificant soil freezing. This leads to higher nutrient consumption in plants and makes them weaker.
