Belarus. Oilseed imports for seven months of 2018

According to the National Statistics Committee of Belarus, Belarus imported a record 98.6 KMT of rapeseed in January-July 2018. Growth of crushing capacities along with a rapeseed crop decrease in 2018 caused a significant rise in oilseed purchases from abroad, mostly from Russia, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The soybean market also shows a substantial gain in imports, to 277 KMT. As before, the main supplier of soybeans to Belarus is Ukraine. At the same time, Russia is the second biggest exporter this year, having resumed supplies for the first time since 2006.

Sunseed imports in January-July 2018 were down more than 50% year-on-year, at 17 KMT, because of a growing interest of crushers in soybeans. The top exporter is Russia, which accounts for 99% of total sunseed imports.
