Bulgarian farmers harvested 1.9 MMT of sunseed

The sunflower seed harvest in Bulgaria is over. According the country’s Ag Ministry, farmers harvested 1887.4 KMT (up 2.5% on the year) of sunflower seed from 734.8 Th ha, with a yield of 2.57 MT/ha (up 12.7% on the year), reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of November 22, Bulgarian growers had seeded 163 Th ha to rape against 169.4 Th ha a year ago. The planting is now 3.8% behind last year against 5.6% a week earlier.

Bulgarian sunseed market prices closed last week with a slight decrease. Having completed the harvest, growers took a more active stance and raised their sunseed offers. As a result, sunseed export shipments increased against a week earlier.
