EU doubled soybean meal imports from Ukraine

Soybean meal exports from Ukraine in the first four months of this season totaled a record 163.5 KMT, or almost 60% more than last year, report UkrAgroConsult.

In December 2018 Ukraine exported 59.3 KMT of soybean meal against 47.3 KMT in the previous month and 37.9 KMT in December 2017.

The structure of Ukrainian soybean meal exports underwent no significant changes in the 2018/19 season. As before, the top importers include the EU (accounts for 56% of total exports), Belarus (21%), Turkey (11%) and Georgia (10%).

Remarkably, all of them have stepped up purchases. The greatest increase is seen in supplies to the EU, which more than doubled imports from Ukraine. In addition, Turkey purchased almost 62% more soybean meal in the first three months of MY 2018/19 than in the whole of last season.
