According to the recent statistics figures, in September-December of the current season Russia exported 208 thsd tonnes of flaxseed, a decrease of 33% compared with the same period in 2017/18 MY.

At the same time, in the reporting period Russia exported 73% of the oilseed volumes to Belgium (99 thsd tonnes) and China (54 thsd tonnes). At the same time, if Belgium reduced the purchases by 36% compared with the first 4 months last season, then China managed to increase the figures by 58%. As in the previous season, the countries remained the major importers of flaxseed from Russia.

According to APK-Inform analysts, in terms of the further development of shipments and taking into account the current estimations of the harvest-2018, the export potential of Russian flaxseed in 2018/19 MY totals 550 thsd tonnes, up 13% compared with last season, but slightly below compared with the record level reached in 2016/17 MY (580 thsd tonnes).
