Kazakhstan. Linseed exports closed 2017/18 season at a record high

Kazakhstan exported a record 362 KMT of linseed in the 2017/18 season. This was up almost 15% from the previous high of 315 KMT hit in MY 2016/17. Export potential of the linseed market grew on an acreage expansion and a bumper linseed crop, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Kazakh linseed exports in August 2018 were at a four-year low of 5 KMT that is almost four times less than in the previous month (19.9 KMT) and almost three times less than in August 2017. Active exports over the entire season exhausted linseed stocks towards its close.

Shipments of Kazakh linseed to its key importer – the EU – gained 25.4% in the 2017/18 season. This market’s share in total exports remains significant at 71%. In addition, the top importers still include Afghanistan (17%), Uzbekistan (5%), Turkey (3%) and Iran (2%).

As of October 1, 2018, farmer linseed stocks in Kazakhstan totaled 502 KMT that is 45.4 KMT or 10% more than on the same date last year, rapeseed stocks – by 14.8% to 285.5 KMT.

Sunseed inventories totaled 140 KMT that is 3.6% lower than on the same date last year (145 KMT). Soybean inventories decreased to 42.4 KMT against 45.2 KMT a year ago.
