Adverse weather conditions appreciably reduced rapeseed production in Romania in 2018. The estimated rapeseed crop is 12% lower than in the previous season. Despite an acreage expansion driven by demand from EU countries, the average rapeseed yield turned out to be the lowest since the 2012/13 season, report UkrAgroConsult’s analysts.

The current pace of rapeseed exports is slower than in the previous two seasons. The volume of exports was 20% lower than in MY 2016/17. Because of reduced export availabilities, the range of destinations narrowed noticeably. Almost all the rapeseed was shipped to EU countries. For the first time since MY 2012/13, the EU rapeseed crop in 2018 was below 20 MMT.

According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, this season’s rapeseed exports may hit the lowest level since the 2015/16 season.
