Turkey remains a significant player in the Black Sea oilseed market

Turkey imported 419.5 KMT of sunflower oil in January-October 2018, mostly from Russia, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In addition, the product was imported from Ukraine, Bosnia (under bilateral agreements), Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova.

Re-exports of refined sunflower oil from Turkey totaled 336 KMT – it was shipped mostly to Iraq and Syria.

During the first ten months of the calendar year, Turkey purchased 553.5 KMT of oil-bearing sunflower seed and 73 MT of other sunflower types (including those for planting and confectionary purposes). The key suppliers of sunflower seed include Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. A minor share of its imports comes from Russia and Ukraine.
