Ukraine. Mayonnaise production closed 2018 at a new low

September-December 2018 witnessed a seasonal rise in mayonnaise production. So, in December, Ukraine’s large and medium-sized plants restored monthly mayonnaise output to the highest level since the beginning of 2018 (13.9 KMT), but it was still down 5% from December 2017.

Mayonnaise production closed the calendar year down 5% from the end of 2017, at a record low of 122.5 KMT against 125.5 KMT, respectively, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian mayonnaise market is aimed at the domestic consumer – this was the reason for the production decline. On the one hand, the dwindling consumption of mayonnaises and sauces indicates a decrease in household incomes. On the other hand, consumer preferences here are influenced by promotion of healthy lifestyles.
