Ukraine. Rape oil exports to hit a record high

Rape oil exports hit record highs in the first two months of the new season due to a corresponding rise in domestic rapeseed processing. So, some 43 KMT of rapeseed oil was shipped abroad in July-August 2018/19, or almost twice as much as in the same period last year. Ukraine exported 15.8 KMT of rapeseed oil in August 2018 against 15.8 KMT in the previous month and 21.3 KMT in August 2017.

According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, Ukrainian rapeseed oil exports will likely set a new record in MY 2018/19.

The EU is still the top importer of Ukrainian rapeseed oil with its export share reaching 79%. European countries step up imports because of a rapeseed crop decline. The bulk of this commodity was shipped to Poland and France. In addition, China boosted purchases of the Ukrainian product to 8.2 KMT against 3.1 KMT a year ago and presently accounts for 19% of the market.
