Palm oil imports to Ukraine in the first two months of the current 2018/19 season were down 7% year-over-year at 45.6 KMT against a seven-year high of 49.1 KMT purchased in the same period in MY 2017/18, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Ukraine imported 22.5 KMT of palm oil in October 2018, or almost 2.6% less than in the previous month but 47% more than in October 2017. Noteworthy is that palm oil imports have been staying above the three-season average (roughly 18 KMT) over the past four months.
Traditionally, the beginning of the marketing year features more active palm oil purchases from Malaysia, whose import share currently equals 65%. Indonesia still accounts for 32% of the Ukrainian palm oil market, but it is this country that, as a rule, becomes the top supplier toward the season’s end.
