Ukraine. Sunseed crushing to set a new record in 2018/19 season

In August 2017/18, sunflower oil production by Ukrainian large and medium-sized crushers fell to a season low of 83.6 KMT. The reason was a decrease in sunseed stocks towards the end of the season, reports UkrAgroConsult.

However, according to official statistics, large and medium-sized plants made 4614 KMT of sunflower oil for the whole of 2017/18. Although down 13.7% from the 2016/17 season, this volume is still close to a record high.

According to UkrAgroConsult estimates, Ukrainian crushers, including small ones, produced 5.6 MMT of sunflower oil in the 2017/18 season.

As the new 2018/19 season is going to see a bumper sunseed crop, sunflower oil output is expected to hit a new high.
