Kazakhstan exports wheat at a record pace this season, reports UkrAgroConsult. So, it shipped abroad 1.53 MMT of wheat in September-November 2018/19, or the largest ever volume for this period. Moreover, this is up 27.3% from September-November 2017/18 and up 30.2% from the five-year average.
As before, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are the top importers of Kazakh wheat this season. However, while Uzbekistan stepped up purchases by 17.1% in the reporting period, to 586.2 KMT, Tajikistan reduced them by 16.7%, to 297.6 KMT.
During the period under review, the greatest year-on-year increase was registered in exports to the neighboring markets of Afghanistan (+67%), China (+134%), Azerbaijan (+41%) and Turkey (+386%).
At the same time, wheat supplies to Georgia grew to 41.6 KMT in September-November 2018/19 against 1.3 KMT a year earlier.
At the expense of boosted exports to the nearby markets, Kazakhstan cut September-November wheat supplies to the EU by 7%, to 87.5 KMT against 97.7 KMT in the same period last season.
