Wheat bran exports from Ukraine in July-January 2018/19 were down 28% year-on-year at 285.9 KMT. Moreover, they were the lowest for these months since the 2013/14 season, reports UkrAgroConsult.
At the same time, the range of export destinations for Ukrainian wheat bran expanded in the period under review. Turkey, though traditionally remaining the top importer, slashed purchases to 210.6 KMT this season against 339.1 KMT in July-January 2017/18.
However, apart from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Singapore were also major wheat bran buyers in the reporting period. In addition, the reporting period witnessed a substantial rise in bran exports to the EU, which reached 7.0 KMT against 1.9 KMT in July-January 2017/18.
At the same time, Egypt – one of last season’s biggest importers – minimized wheat bran purchases from Ukraine in July-January 2018/19 (0.17 KMT against 8.1 KMT a year earlier).
