Ukraine. Wheat bran exports were down 37% year-on-year

Wheat bran exports from Ukraine in the first half of MY 2018/19 were down 37% year-on-year at 208 KMT. Moreover, they were the lowest for these months since the 2011/12 season, reports UkrAgroConsult.

At the same time, the range of export destinations for Ukrainian wheat bran expanded in the period under review. Turkey, though traditionally remaining the top importer, slashed purchases to 161.2 KMT this season against 285.7 KMT in July-December 2017/18.

However, apart from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Singapore were also major wheat bran buyers in the reporting period. In addition, H1 2018/19 witnessed a rise in bran exports to the EU, which reached 4.4 KMT against 1.8 KMT a year earlier.

At the same time, Egypt – one of last season’s biggest importers – minimized wheat bran purchases from Ukraine in the first half of MY 2018/19.
